Eleanor Lee Reading Templeman was a local historian, author, preservationist and photographer. From 1947 until her death, Mrs. Templeman served the Society of the Lees of Virginia as Secretary, Genealogist and Historian. She wrote four books and numerous journal articles, primarily on the Lee family and also local history. Reading, Pierson Barton

Pierson Barton Reading was born in 1816 in New Jersey. In 1830 he moved to Vicksburg, Miss. to become a cotton broker. He joined the Peter H. Burnett party going to Calif. and Ore. in 1843 and split in Fort Hall with the Joseph B. Chiles' party. Reading settled in Shasta County, Calif.
